Brunsvigia bosmaniae (growing at Klawer)

The large (about 25cm across) inflorescences can be seen in quantity around Klawer and Nieuwoudtville in April if the rainfall pattern has been OK. The six leaves that follow later, are large and flat to the ground. The almost actinomorphic flowers are insect pollinated - compare them with those of the bird-pollinated B. orientalis. It will take a long time to flower from seed.
