Conophytum bilobum v. linearilucidum B&H 2333 (Naroegas)

C. bilobum is a widespread species with many different forms, such that the accepted varietal names are not particularly meaningful. I use linearilucidum for colonies of bilobum in the south-west Richtersveld that are very early flowering (July in the UK). The name derives from the transparent blister at the base of the fissure. Some but not all have red filaments in the centre of the flower as can be seen above.
