Conophytum bruynsii PVB 6784 (northern Knersvlakte)

This is one of the most surprising new discoveries of recent years and it is not obvious as to what its relatives might be. The flowers have tightly packed staminodes that close the centre of the flower and it stays open day and night. Furthermore, in my collection the flowers appear sporadically at any time between September and May.
