Conophytum chrisocruxum SH 2275 (near Witkoppies)

A species with a very tiny distribution that should perhaps be regarded as a subspecies of C. bachelorum; flowers are similar and hybrids between the two are fully fertile. It is one of the few conos that flower during the spring, usually May in my collection. The best forms have a red cross on the fissure, but this is by no means universal and depends to some extend on the amount of sun they receive.
