Conophytum ficiforme 'Odoratum' H. Hall s.n. (near Worcester)

Looking at the colour and size of the flowers, the surprise is that this is a night-flowering species. The photo shows the typical form that occurs near Worcester and the later name of 'Odoratum' is redundant, although it does reflect the lovely perfume that the flowers emit. The colonies that grow in areas south of Worcester tend to have smaller less-colourful flowers, but the compensation is that the bodies are often strikingly marked.
