Conophytum hanae (Sterkstroom)

This is a distinctive species with its flattened discoid bodies and the flowers are possibly the pinkest of any cono species. It is known from just one locality in a remote valley in the Kamiesberge where it was discovered by a Czech group in 1997. It was described independently by two members of the group and the names C. tomasi and C.hanae were published for it. I believe that the correct name to be applied is C. hanae. It is probably a member of the C. taylorianum complex, but the geographically closest relative grows a long way to the north-west on the Rosyntjieberg in the Richtersveld.
