Conophytum irmae (Rietkloof)

This species is named for Irma Burger, a member of the Burger family of C. burgeri fame. It is very small as can be seen by the 5cm pot that it is growing in. I initially thought that this was just a local form of C. ectypum but it is quite distinct. It occurs on quartzite within a rather small area but there are several colonies known. The particular area is very rich in conos and there are possible intermediates to other taxa.
