Conophytum khamiesbergense TS611 (8km N of Die Kruis)

This occurs on various granite hills in the Kamiesberg range where it grows at quite high altitude and experiences frost and snow during the winter. It is unusual in that it flowers in early spring. The bodies can vary quite a lot in the length of teeth and in their colouration. It tends not to be a prolific flowerer. Because it is such a distinct species, it has in the past been assigned to the monotypic genus Berrisfordia.
