Conophytum pellucidum TS472 (10km north of Concordia)

This species is found all over Namaqualand with many hundreds of populations, each showing subtle differences. C. pellucidum was originally described from the Okiep/Concordia area and so the plants in the photo can be regarded as fairly typical pellucidum. With the windows and intricate markings, it is a species that would make an interesting greenhouse collection all by itself. Flowers are typically white with a yellow throat but occasionally plants with a white throat can be found. Light or dark purple flowers are also known either as discrete populations or mixed in with whites.
