Conophytum swanepoelianum ssp. proliferans TS498 (Vanrhynspas)
This is the smallest subspecies of swanepoelianum but makes up for this by producing large numbers of new heads, perhaps as many as eight from each old head when it resurrects. To appreciate its smallness, please note that the above pot is just 5cm square. It is known from just a few localities along the northern edge of the Bokkeveld escarpment where it gets a good view of the Knersvlakte below. As with other subspecies of swanepoelianum, it can be slow to crack out from it's old sheaths in the autumn.
