Conophytum tantillum clonotype

For many years this was only known from the clonotype which is shown in the photo; a very nice densely-clumping, free-flowering plant. It was known to originate from the Steinkopf area and had been collected by the Rev. Meyer who had mission stations at Steinkopf and Komaggas. It was rediscovered in the noughties on an expedition led by Ernst van Jaarsfeld to the Skaaprivier gorge under his number EvJ21112. Rev. Meyer would have probably travelled between his missions by mule or horse and the route along Skaaprivier could well have been the quickest to take.
