Conophytum taylorianum (Sargdeckel)

This is the typical form of the species that lives right in the middle of a Namibian Diamond Area where access is forbidden. Hence very few people have ever seen it in the wild. The small bodies are densely clustered and often have a red tint in the autumn. It is relatively rare in cultivation, although ssp. ernianum is frequently seen named as the type subspecies. It never grows as large as the other two subspecies.
