Conophytum youngii (S. Garies, TL)

Described only in 2012, this is a 2.5 year old plant photographed in the autumn when it has the curious grey colouration. a seed capsule from the previous spring can be seen here. Seed produced in cultivation has been slow to germinate (4 - 5 weeks) but has given around 30 - 40% success.

As it goes into dormancy in the spring, the body becomes red and it produces purple flowers at that time.
